About
Shoreikan Dojo, founded in 2001 by Tony Chung Sensei, is a martial arts training center that specializes in Yoshinkan Aikido. As a highly effective self-defense martial art, Aikido emphasizes using minimal effort for maximum impact. It is also known for its numerous health benefits, such as improved balance, flexibility, and endurance.
The dojo's structured training method follows the principles of Yoshinkan Aikido, which was founded by Gozo Shioda, a student of the renowned Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido. Thanks to the dedication of Thamby Rajah Sensei, Yoshinkan Aikido was brought to Malaysia.

Instructor Profile
Tony Chung Sensei, born in 1964, is a martial artist with a passion for Yoshinkan Aikido. In 1997, he began his journey in Aikido and quickly rose through the ranks, earning his Shodan (1st-degree black belt) in 2000.
He co-founded Shoreikan Dojo with Lai Hon Meng Sensei in 2001, where they share their knowledge and expertise with students from all walks of life.
Tony Sensei’s dedication to the art of Aikido is evident in his many accomplishments. In 2003, he and Lai Hon Meng Sensei earned their Nidan (2nd-degree black belt) and passed the rigorous instructor test at the Yoshinkan Honbu dojo in Tokyo, Japan.
The test, conducted by Inoue Kyoichi Hanshi and Dojocho Tsutomu Chida, was a testament to their skill and determination.
Tony Sensei continued his training in Japan and received his San Dan (3rd-degree black belt) in 2005, passing his second instructor test alongside Chan Chee Keong Sensei at the Yoshinkan Honbu dojo.
In 2009, he received his Yon Dan (4th-degree black belt) from Tsutomu Chida Sensei of Renshinkai Aikido. Today, Tony Sensei is a respected teacher and mentor with a Go Dan (5th-degree black belt) practicing Aikido and sharing his knowledge at Shoreikan Dojo.
